A few days ago we talked about the idea that many stressed out dog owners and trainers want a magical (the mythical) “quick fix” when it comes to Dog Training.
Chances are you’ve had thoughts like this:
“My dog’s out of control.
I really need help.
I’m so stressed out.”
And so you’re wishing with all your might that you can take your pup in and say,
“Fix my dog in one lesson.”
Unfortunately there are no real quick fixes.
Dog Trainers aren’t magicians.
We can’t wave a magic wand and fix your dog instantly.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t still work our magic and get you the results you deserve with a little time and hard work.
It’s going to require a lot of teaching. We have to teach you exactly how to get there step by step.
And, unfortunately, it’s not a matter of coming in and just fixing that one problem that you’re experiencing at the moment.
For example…
If your dog’s aggressive, or biting at people/dogs, or bad on the leash, or walking with other dogs it’s not just that ONE problem.
You have to start from the beginning.
Basically start over with a clean slate and THEN move forward working with your pup and teaching them the right things.
Many times it means we have to “unlearn” the bad behaviors your pup has taken on.
The truth is most dogs have more problems than just the surface level problem and it takes time. You’re not alone.
We actually have to build a more solid foundation for your dog’s behavior to rest on.
Once we have that solid foundation then we are free build from there.
As a dog owner that doesn’t mean anything bad about you. You didn’t mess anything up.
It just means that it’s going to take some work
It’s not your fault your dog has learned some bad behaviors over the past months or years.
You’re not a dog trainer!
So you wouldn’t know what to do in these situations anyway, but you can learn.
And we can help you and your pup learn what’s necessary.
