Pomeranian Dog Training Greenwich CTI had a very aggressive, out-of-control Pomeranian who was becoming quite a handful by the time he was 15 months old. He was biting and drawing blood, he was barking all the time and if I opened the door he would run away and we couldn’t catch him. He would dominate the furniture and he would attack us if we tried to sit down or move him. At nine months old and 7lbs, my dog attacked the groomer and the groomer told me he could never come back again.

He could not be trusted around children and my parents were urging me to put him up for adoption. A friend of mine referred me to Stacy at Westchester K-9 last December. I sent the dog for the initial three weeks. After two weeks, Kerrie (Head trainer at the time) had made progress but she highly recommended training the dog on a vibrating collar so that he didn’t fall back into his bad habits when he came back home.

I agreed to the training and left the dog an additional week for the remote collar training. In retrospect, I wish I had done the collar training on day one.

I am happy to say that my Pomeranian is now reformed and a really sweet dog. He is still the same dominant dog but the K-9 training and the collar training really changed our lives. The collar has given us the ability to calm and control the dog in a split second – it is similar to a vibrating phone, not electric shock. I was so please with the training that I sent the dog back a couple months later for remote recall training with the collar. Now I board him at K-9 when I travel. He knows them so well, he is happy to be there and I am relieved to have a place I do not need to worry about him.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog-training-Newtown CTHi Stacy, I wanted to share some pictures with you of Jack and Snickers together.  They are doing great and enjoy mutual sniffs.  All else is great with Jack’s behavior and I couldn’t be happier.

Thank you for all of the hard work by you and your team.  I hope that you enjoy all that this season brings.

Sincerely, Susan S.

collie aussie-dog-training-LarchmontI highly recommend Westchester K-9 both for training and for boarding. You will be in good hands and you will end up with a dog that is calm and manageable. We have worked with them for several years and have had an excellent experience and excellent training results.  We have 4 dogs, 2 of which are older and not very well trained, but they are very mellow now — I wish we had known about Stacy when they were younger.

The younger two dogs in our pack are rescue dogs that are a mix of two herding breeds.  In retrospect, it probably wasn’t a good idea to adopt these dogs into a home with a small yard in Larchmont and a busy family, but Stacy and her staff have worked with us to channel the high energy and intelligence of these dogs and they are well-trained and obedient.  One of the dogs has a small inclination to aggressive behavior, which Stacy knew exactly how to handle.

I think that what distinguishes Stacy’s program from others is that she works with the family to train the dog to fit into the family’s life. Other trainers seem to think that the family needs to adapt to the dog, but Stacy takes a more pragmatic, family-focused approach and the end result is an obedient, well-trained dog.  She will listen to your concerns and set the training program accordingly — as well as give you excellent advice for home care and keeping up the training routine.

Border Collie Dog Training OssiningI used Westchester K-9 for the first time 14 years ago for basic obedience training for my Labrador puppy. I was also able to leave my lab with Westchester K-9 feeling very comfortable, when we went on vacations.

Then I began fostering dogs for a local rescue, and eventually adopted an young adult border collie with many issues.

I brought him to Stacy for the 3 weeks, and he come back a more confident, less aggressive, and very well trained. She is wonderful with dogs, very knowledgeable, and generous with her time and expertise.  He too boards with her when I go away, which makes for a more relaxed vacation for all concerned.

The way WK-9 is set up, the dogs have room to run, play, and interact as opposed to being crated all day. It’s a real plus (and for me essential) to board my dog with a trainer who is knowledgeable about dog behavior. My dog comes home happy and clean (they do an exit bath).
I highly recommend Westchester K-9 for all of their services. I know leaving a dog somewhere strange can be stressful, but WK-9 is exceptional.

golden retriever-training-nyc“We did the train and board program when Golden was a puppy and still have training when Golden needs refreshers. I can say that I have personally been to Westchester k-9, and it is a lovely set up.”

Rat Terrier Beagle Dog Training Bronxville NYLainie is doing really well! She was so tired yesterday but was listening to commands and responding to the remote. We introduced her to our walker last night with the new technique and it worked so well she was sitting next to her on the couch within 2 minutes; only a small growl when she walked in.

Tonight we were able to sit and eat dinner while she sat on her bed and watched us which had never happened before (she was always running around)! It sounds like we still have a lot of work to do with her, but we are happy to see the progress she’s made.

Thanks, Corey

labrador retriever training New RochelleRooney is doing very well! It’s incredible how much he’s behaving.

We took him on a few walks already and only had one little hiccup when another big dog was around and started barking at him. The collar works wonders so I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before he becomes perfectly trained.

Thanks, Phillip

shepherd Dog Training LarchmontHi, Stacy. Just wanted to say thank you to all of your team for taking such good care of, and working so effectively with, Finn while he was with you, and for your brilliant recommendation to make use of a prong collar.

It has been just exactly what he and we needed to make walks fun, easy and productive. We loved him to bits before, and it’s been a treat having a calmer, better behaved boy with us since his return.

Thank you!!
